The Power of Listening
by Keedren Boston, Ministry Practitioner at Future of Faith
For as long as I can remember, I feel like I’ve been a good listener. Not just someone who hears words, but someone who values the stories, struggles, and dreams people share. But it wasn’t always clear to me just how powerful listening could be. It wasn’t until I noticed how it impacted those who were being heard while sharing a moment of vulnerability that I began to see listening as more than a skill; it’s a way to show love, build trust, make connections, and inspire growth.
This realization started at home, with my wife and kids, and expanded into my work in education and ministry. The more intentional I became about listening, the more I saw how it brought people together, strengthened relationships, and opened doors for real transformation.
That’s why I’ve said yes to this blog. I want to share the stories, lessons, and moments that have shaped my journey. Both the successes and the struggles. My hope as I continue to learn and grow is to inspire and equip you to embrace the power of listening, whether in your family, your community, or your ministry. When we grow as listeners those who encounter us will not just feel recognized but they feel remembered.
This is just the beginning, and I look forward to sharing strategies and exploring this journey with you. Let’s listen, learn, and grow together.
